Have A Happy Halloween!

Okay, so this is my first official podcast! What do I think about the "Halloween" movies? What is some good music I've been listening to? What movies have I seen lately that I like? And what horror movies do I love to watch around this time of year? Well, tune in to my podcast for all of this and more!

Here's how: Open iTunes. Go to the advanced tab. Click "subscribe to podcast". Then just copy and paste this link http://infinite-favorites.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default and you will be able to listen to my podcasts as I post them! Enjoy!

It's definitely a Thriller...

Michael Jackson's Thriller
features one of the most commonly known dances in the world... and it's just so fitting for this time of year! So here's a post to my favorite "spooky" song and one of my favorite performers of all time. With with a short post today, here is the whole Thriller video. RIP MJ.

And the Academy goes to...

Yesterday, I posted a list of movies I love to watch around Halloween. That list probably only containes less than 1% of the horror movies that I've actually seen, and to me, the most important part of a horror movie is the acting. You can have a "Scary-As-Shit" movie, but have it ruined by horrible acting. Unless it seems real, I'll get bored with the movie very easily.

I've kept up with the newest season of Scream Queens on VH1. It's ended for the season, but I loved the concept. So, to keep this post fairly short, Here is the top 2 movies with the greatest acting, in my opinion, and I'm going to give my cheers my favorite "Scream Queen"- I mean, you never see horror films / actors get nominated at the Academy Awards, so I'm going to recognize them here:

Paranormal Activity seemed completely real to me. Both of the actors were down to earth, real. This movie is definitely at the top of my list of good actors.

And the top it off...

When I watched Quarantine in the theater with my folks, I thought to myself, this lady is the greatest actress I've ever seen. I really don't even like the movie that much, but she blew me away. Jennifer Carpenter is the actress, and it amazed me how she could scream her head off, act horrified and all shaken up, and still make her performance believable. She is my nomination. To me, she is THE Scream Queen. You may also know her as Emily Rose, from her performance from The Exorcism of Emily Rose.

What I recommend watching this week.

Because it's Halloween, and Halloween happens to be my "favorite" holiday, I'm going to post something every other day or so that pertains to Halloween / Horror. On Friday, my first podcast will be updated, so you'll be able to download that- instructions will be posted later for those who don't know how to subscribe.

Anyway, since I consider Sunday to be the first day of the week, unlike the rest of my friends, I'm going to post my favorite movies I love to watch during this time of year. This will be a short post- just basically a list of movies you should watch this week... Actually, this will be more like a schedule of movies I'm going to watch this week... oh well, it's all the same to me.

Day 1, Sunday 10/24
I find it best to start with a true Halloween movie. So Halloween, the original, is going to be my choice of movie this week.

Day 2, Monday 10/25
I will pop in the newest Friday the 13th. I don't want to watch all the good ones at first... this one is just a fun watch to me.

Day 3, Tuesday 10/26
The Ring 1 and/or 2 will most likely be my choice of movies to watch this day.

Day 4, Wednesday 10/27
There's this movie, Trick 'R Treat that I bought a while back.. still haven't watched it, but Wednesday sounds like a good day to do just that.

Day 5, Thursday 10/28
Well, today I have a whole day off practically. Only one class, so I'll be able to watch a few movies.  My choices? Scream 1, 2, & 3. Enough said.

Day 6, Friday 10/29
The family is coming in Friday to celebrate Halloween... So I'll probably be watching what they want to: Sleepy Hollow. This is one of my all time favorite "Halloween Themed" movies. It's creepy, scary, and the cast is great.

Day 7, 10/30
My family and I are going to be carving pumpkins on this day... So to keep with our traditions, we are most likely going to be watching Practical Magic, Hocus Pocus, and Halloween: H20.

Day 8, Halloween
I always have the worst times picking out the right movies to watch on Halloween... Nevertheless, no matter how much I fret about it, I always choose the same damn movies every year: Halloween, the original, Halloween 2, 4, 5 and Resurrection, and I'll end the night with the scariest of all, The Exorcist. You may be thinking how I can fit all of these movies into one day? Well I just put them in and let them play from when I get up to when I go to sleep.. I just let the roll even when I'm not actually watching them.

Just a little video for your entertainment.

Well, Paranormal Activity 2 was awesome! ... If only I didn't shit myself.

It definitely lived up to my expectations.

On October 8, 2006, Katie and Micah’s paranormal activities climaxed when Katie mysteriously becomes possessed and ultimately murders Micah and…

That’s right. What happens after the incident that night? Where does Katie go? And why is this all happening anyway? The new sequel has all, scratch that, most of the answers.  I’ll try not to spoil anything for anyone; however, with as secretive the previews have been with the storyline, I may have already. Anyways, you could say this movie is a prequel to the first. Shit! Was that another spoiler? The ‘activity’ actually starts with this family from PA2, which happens to be close relatives to the original Katie. So throughout the film, we see cameos of Micah and Katie, taking into account this is happening a good three months before the activity in their home. Without getting into any more detail, the suspense that captivated many people in the first movie is just as intense in this movie.

Nonetheless, the movie may seem a bit boring in the beginning. The object this movie lacked that the other had is simply the great transitioning from one act of ‘activity’ to another. PA2 starts out extremely slow. Instead of building up the acts of paranormal events, it seems to be minimal, be minimal, be minimal, and then BAM, BAM, BAM; if that made any sense at all. The first film seemed to transition every event as if they got more intense every time. This one was either huge at first, small the next… or just small events throughout, then all of the huge events in the end. Either way, this new movie was scary as hell. I went and saw the midnight showing, with an 8:30 class the next morning… Even though I may be as tired as hell right now, I have no regrets. It was exactly what I was waiting for.

A new look on the franchise made this film even scarier than the first, and this is how: first, there’s a dog. I mean, we all know dogs and sense things we cannot, which really increase the scare factor. Second, the plot surrounds a family, not just a couple. Third, the house is huge and includes security cameras in EVERY room. So, instead of only seeing things with a guy carrying a camera or just through a tripod set up in a bedroom, or hearing something in a room and having to watch Micah run into another room so we can see the after affect, we get to see everything first-hand. And lastly, the factor I believe makes the movie the scariest, is the baby! Yes, we’ve all heard that innocent little children and see things adults can’t, and this movie plays with that idea. And it doesn’t help that the child can’t fight for himself… especially when he’s getting dragged out of his crib…

So if you want to be scared shitless. Go see this movie! It’s definitely the best horror film of this year. And I believe that the two Paranormal Activities are definitely the greatest horror films of all time. What you don’t see is what’s the scariest to me. And take my advice, don’t go see this movie during the day… it takes away from the after-affect. Go see it at night, so when you go home, you can imagine a demon coming for you with every sound you hear.

Podcast 0 - So It All Begins

So I'm starting a podcast. Hopefully people will find it entertaining and fun. Either way, it gives me something to do in my spare time. My first full-length podcast will be released on October 29, 2010 - just in time for Halloween!

"Easy A" Is Simply... An Easy 'A'.

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of seeing ‘Easy A’. And when I say “pleasure”, it was exactly that. Emma Stone captivated me when she played the ultimate geeky sorority girl in The House Bunny. Then she had another break role as a badass woman in Zombieland; now, an outstanding role in Easy A. To tell you the truth, she’s going to be huge if she keeps choosing these great roles (as she has already been doing).

Easy A is about a student [Stone] who is just an ordinary, somewhat boring girl in her high school. Until she pretends to sleep with a guy as a favor, she is unnoticed. Word starts spreading on how Stone helped the guy out, so other pathetic-type guys start lining up to Stone with hopes that she’ll, at least, lie about having slept with them. Once rumors start spreading about her “indecency”, as Amanda Bynes categorizes Stone’s behavior in the film, the whole school starts to backlash and attack Emma. So in the end, Stone has to make the ultimate decision: Tell everyone that she’s been lying about sleeping around, or let the past be the past and just move on from there.

This story is a typical 80’s type movie, brought to the future in today’s 21st Century cinema. The movie really touches the idea of Stone’s situation being a typical “John Hughes” storyline, which perhaps may be true. All in all though, this movie was greatly entertaining. Lisa Kudrow was featured in the movie, and what can go wrong when our ‘Phoebe’ is in the picture?… well a lot of things, especially if she plays a troublesome social worker, as she does in Easy A.

The cast is great and the humor is astonishing. The A-List cast really takes this movie to the next level. Maybe it’s because I find myself in a younger demographic, but I loved this movie. A friend, my brother, and I all went and saw it together, and we found ourselves laughing so hard we started to cry. So I genuinely recommend seeing this movie if you haven’t already.

This movie could have easily been named based off of the ratings of all of the factors that bring the film together. It is simply an ‘Easy A’.

Can't get enough of 'The Good Wife'!

It's been two weeks since I've mentioned anything about television. This is what has happened since the week of premiers: Another one of my shows I love to watch, The Good Wife, has started up for season two, and the show I fell in love with, Lone Star, won't have a season two. Actually it wont even have an episode three. Yes, in a previous post, I explained how Fox was contemplating taking the show off the air because of it's poor ratings for its premier. Well, after viewer-ship went down even further for the second episode, they immediately took it off the air and replaced it with the new season of Lie To Me. I'm quite disappointed. The show had major potential and an awesome storyline. I'm just sad that the show wasn't allowed, at least, a quick finish; instead of a huge cliffhanger. I guess that leaves the rest to the imagination.

Nevertheless, I'm now distracted from that mishap, and literally obsessed with another show. The Good Wife has resumed for Season 2. The first episode [2 weeks ago] started with an exciting case dealing with a man she deemed guilty. She had to make the ultimate decision and choose whether or not to defend the man.

While dealing with the almost impossible case, Alicia Florick had to choose to leave her husband  for a long-time crush, or stay with her cheating husband. Ultimately she has no choice in the matter and decides to move on with her life.

Her cases this season seem to be more gutsy while she attempts to, more or less, confront the judges on their mistakes. Her rivalry with her former associate, Cary, has started to heat up as well this season. The second episode [last week] began with a case winner for Alicia, which then took a startling twist into Military Court. Being unfamiliar with the different codes and laws intertwining in the system, the "Good Wife" has to battle her way with a particularly biased judge and jury. This show has drama, it has family, it has action, it has a good-looking cast, and the "law and order" aspect of the show collectively makes this a great edition to my Tuesday nights. Actually, that seems to be one of the only shows I'm looking forward to, because with The Good Wife, you never know what is going to happen. Ultimately, this television show is recommended to anyone looking for a new guilty pleasure. It won't let you down.

You might be a favorite if... I play your album 50 times in a week!

I have listened to so much music this past week. It's the time for the first wave of tests during this semester of classes, so when I'm studying, I start up iTunes and listen to music- nonstop. The music I listen to varies so much from genre to genre. I like it all- mostly. Sometimes I'm in the mood for hip/hop and rap, but hardly. I love country, rock, pop, classical, alternative, and everything in between. Right now, my iPod just went through a Miley Cyrus song onto Adam Lambert. Yes, I'm not afraid to admit that I have a few songs from Miley. It's good studying music; easy and definitely not deep (no puns here).  And as controversial as Adam has been, I'm not afraid to say I love his music also.

Let's just skip through the next few songs and see what I have next: "Animals" by Neon Trees, "I Wont" by Colbie Callait, "The Incredible Machine" by Sugarland, and "Resistance" by Muse... all songs I love. But out of all the music I've been listening to, there's a guy whose album I've looped over and over for a full week straight.

David Gray. I have yet to skip a song of his. He's a singer/songwriter who caught my eye on iTunes. I downloaded his latest album, Foundling, and was amazed. He's got upbeat happy music. And he's got slow thoughtful music. Everything that I like in an album. Because I was so impressed with this album, I thought I'd share my joy of it on my blog. I mean, it's a blog for my "favorite" things in life. And if you don't constitute a 50 play count on every song in this album for one week a favorite, then I'm not sure how much I'll need to listen to it. So ultimately if I were to rate this artist and his music 1 out of 10. I would say David gets a solid 8.
