Spies, cougars, and anthropologists...

September is my favorite month... when it comes to television at least. Last week, my life got a little bit fuller [is this even a word?] when I realized that all my favorite television shows were going to start. My DVR was working up a storm it seemed. At around 7 o’clock each night, the sucker would turn on and wouldn’t turn off till 10.  This meant that my life on the internet and my studies would fully subside during these three hours each night practically.  So below, I’m going to list the shows I watch each night. Then, out of the many, I will choose my favorite show for each night. Ultimately during the end of this post, I will choose my all-time favorite show of the week, or of all for the matter. Then in the weeks to come, I’ll choose just one favorite show a week based off of the actual storyline, or episode, of that week. So here goes:

Mondays
Chuck vs. House vs. Lone Star vs. The Event
Winner:  Chuck!

Tuesdays
Glee vs. NCIS vs. One Tree Hill
Winner: NCIS!

Wednesdays
Cougartown vs. Ghost Hunters
Winner: Cougartown!

Thursdays
Grey’s Anatomy vs. Bones vs. Private Practice
Winner: Bones!

Fridays
Supernatural vs. Smallville
Winner: Supernatural!

So, what happens to be my favorite show of the whole week? It doesn’t take me any time to come up with an answer. Naturally it’s Bones. I’ll never miss an episode of this show. Every week is exciting and captivating.

On a tangent, a new show, Lone Star, really caught my attention this week. It was actually quite good. It’s about a con man who’s living two lives (2 jobs, 2 wives, and stealing money). I can’t recall any other show with these principles. I’m mentioning this show because after one episode, FOX is contemplating canceling it. The truth is that I really like this show and I wish that the companies would give television shows a chance before pulling the plug.

Resident Evil: Afterlife... is... brilliant!

I love watching movies. It’s my favorite pastime. So out of ALL of the movies I’ve watched- which is my favorite? This is one answer I’ll never be able to give. There are movies that I can fully recite from memory, Twister, being one of them.  But I’m not sure if that’s my favorite. I don’t know what my ultimate favorite is, but I do know what my favorite movie I’ve seen this past week. I figure that I watch so much television that I can post a weekly favorite movie [or show, whichever I feel like posting]. I recently went and saw Resident Evil: Afterlife in 3D, and I have to say, after being sucked into the franchise when the first movie came out, this one is by far my favorite of the foursome. It is by far the most entertaining movie I’ve seen for a while now… compared to the last disappointing movie I saw in theaters [Eat. Pray. Love.]. I easily get in the mood for an end-of-days movie, and my recent view of The Book of Eli didn’t quite curve my craving. Resident Evil: Afterlife, however, did just that. Milla Jovovich is one of my favorite actresses. She can do it all. From her action movies to serious thrillers. From The Fifth Element to The Fourth Kind and The Perfect Getaway she always captivates me.

In this flick, Jovovich returns as Alice, who was manufactured by the Umbrella Corporation to be the greatest military asset. The story resumes from the previous movie Extinction with returning casts like Ali Larter. After unexpectedly finding survivors atop a building in the destroyed L.A. metropolis, she attempts to rescue the people to a ship in which the team has been receiving safety broadcasts from. The story is simple. The movie is great. And the 3D affects are amazing. One spoiler though, the movie does have a cliffhanger. So I can only hope that they continue with another. According to Associated Press, this 4th installment has grossed more than the other three movies combined, so hopefully that will bring light to a fifth movie. I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

BioShock for PS3

I just returned to college. All of my friends seem to be so busy with their extra curriculars- I needed something to do... something that would be interactive and time consuming. So, with that in mind, I went to my stack of PS3 games that I hadn't touched for a while and I picked out a game my brother gave me for Christmas. It was called BioShock and I hadn't even opened it since it was given to me. It didn't seem like something I would like... I love Guitar Hero and even Modern Warfare 2... but BioShock? Well don't let the creepy robot and creepy girl on the cover of this game fool you, this game is one of the most fun games I've played in a long time. Very innovative and thrilling! So to my surprise, I can sit down with this game, and 4 hours later still be tentatively into it. Do I recommend this to everyone? YES. Will it scare you at some points? YES. Is it hard? SOMETIMES. Is it my favorite video game right now? YES. Will I buy BioShock 2? ABSOLUTELY.
